Dyson Announces Plan to Build 15,000 Ventilators For Coronavirus Victims

The company plans to produce 10,000 devices for the United Kingdom and an additional 5,000 to be donated globally

British technology company Dyson knows a thing or two about airflow, as the brand designs and manufactures household appliances such as vacuum cleaners, air purifiers and many more. Recently, the brand announced that it will produce 15,000 ventilators—one of the most critical pieces of medical equipment for intensive care units needed to treat COVID-19 patients.

The machine, titled CoVent, is a bed-mounted, portable ventilator that can run on battery power in field-hospital conditions. This ventilator is created in collaboration with The Technology Partnership (TTP) and Dyson plans to produce 10,000 devices for the United Kingdom with an additional 5,000 more to be donated to medical institutions all across the globe.
