Dior Presents Its Latest Fashion Statement, The B30 Sneakers

In an expression of craftmanship, expertise as well as its heritage, Dior presents the B30 sneakers as the “it” sneaker of spring 2022

Through recalibration and reflection of the Dior codes, the Spring 2022 menswear collection by men’s Artistic Director Kim Jones reaffirms the lexicon that defines the house’s masculine identity. In reexamining the archives, Jones discovered not only the persona of Monsieur Dior himself, but also that of those who inherited his mantle and how to pass on the legacy and keep its spirit part of the present.

The collection pulled fragments from Dior’s rich heritage, stretching back to 1947, the year of the maison’s debut. Other notes were taken from Marc Bohan’s famous reign at the label which started in the 1960s and lasted all the way until 1989. Kim Jones’s signature hybrids of tailoring and sportwear as well as casual with formal is revived, refined and reworked for this season. All this resulted in a collection that is inspired by the ateliers of 30 Avenue Montaigne, while the “Atelier Christian Dior” signature features as an ode to the craft of couture that is reflected in pieces that combine utility and luxury.

And for this special occasion, Jones also presented a plethora of new footwear options, with the main star being the B30 sneakers. At a first glance, the B30 sneaker may come across as a “dad” sneaker with its retro silhouette and aesthetics akin to running shoes. Seeing a remixed runner from Dior should come as no surprise, though, as head men’s footwear designer Thibo Denis is heavily influenced by classic aesthetic styles.

In the B30 sneaker’s case, it is designed to be worn with both tailored and more sporty looks. Inspired by the world of running, the B30 incorporates technical materials such as microfiber and mesh to offer flexibility and lightness. This “it” sneaker is available in five colorways—white, black, lime, olive and beige—with each featuring a classic mesh base with leather overlays on the forefoot, midfoot, eyestays and heel.

The quarter panels are embellished with an aerodynamic rendering of the “CD” logo featuring contrasting lines inspired by French modernism. These unfurl on each side in a reflective version, as well on the sole and heel. This is where Marc Bohan’s influence can be seen, as he is the one who introduced the “CD” motif to the label years ago. Another detail is the contrasted silver gelly Dior B30 signature on the tongue, also with a reflective panel.

As for the sole, the B30 uses EVA soles, which was discovered recently as the lightest material on the market. Now that we have covered the outside, let’s see what they got to offer on the inside. After all, comfort is everything in a shoe. The internal elastic on the inner of the B30 will maintain and protect the foot while the foam insole improves comfort. Breathability is also emphasized, along with superior flexibility. Furthermore, the lining-free upper offers flexibility and lightness, while the lining on the back adds luxurious comfort.
