The new 2022/23 season kit design is inspired by the beauty of Lake Como.
Founded in 1907, Como 1907 is among the prominent clubs in the Serie B of Italian football league. Coached by Giacomo Gattuso, the club comprises outstanding players, including midfielder Cesc Fàbregas, Álex Blanco, Alessandro Bellemo, and Davide Bertoncini. To welcome the new 2022/23 season, Como 1907 released its latest home kit designed by the club’s creative director, Indonesian high fashion designer Didit Hediprasetyo.
Design-wise, Didit was inspired by the natural beauty of Lake Como, the third largest lake in Italy. The jersey is largely rendered in glacier blue, with white accents on rib sleeves and collar. The abstract motif emblazoning the piece is a creation of Indian painter Golnaz Jebelli. “I wanted a design that was inspired by the tranquility and serenity of the lake; therefore, I asked the artist Golnaz Jebelli to paint the variety of the texture of the water and the strength and structural compactness of the marble so as to convey a sense of intense energy,” Didit says of the creative process.
The launching of the new kit is also a part of a fundraising project. All proceeds from the jersey sale will be donated to a plethora of community projects in Como. The club will also keep the blue kit for two consecutive seasons as a way to relieve the burden of the club fans’ parents. “Football kits and merchandising have become a sizable source of income for teams around the world, but at the same time they can be a burden on parents whose children expect to wear the latest model every year,” the club owner group representative, Mirwan Suwarso says.
