DiCaprio And LVMH Join Amazon Fire Fight

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of LVMH Bernard Arnault and Member of the LVMH Board of Directors Yann Arthus-Bertrand have pledged that LVMH will join President Macron and the G7 initiative to help fight the Amazon wildfire. Through an official release in their website, it is stated that LVMH will be contributing as much as 10 million Euros in support of the cause.

Protecting the environment is not just about words and speeches or signing declarations of principle, it also requires taking concrete collective actions when dangers arise in order to provide resources for local specialists and work together to save our planet.” says Arthus-Bertrand. “I am proud that LVMH is participating in this emergency effort and I hope that many others will follow suit.

Hollywood A-lister and reputable environmentalist Leonardo DiCaprio along with his environmental organization associates at Earth Alliance have joined the wildfire fight by forming the Amazon Forest Fund. The organization has committed in raising a fund of 5 million dollars to help communities and other local partners to protect and save the Amazon.

Still ongoing, the wildfire dates back to sometime around August 11. Wildfires aren’t uncommon in the Amazon rainforest, so environmentalist and researchers are pointing at farmers to blame for doing their seasonal burnings to clear out land or what is also known as the season of “Queimada”.
