Before it was practised as a result of the ongoing pandemic, working from home doesn’t exclude us from conference calls—which has become an essential part of modern day-to-day business.

But on top of that, there’s a reason as to why you should prep on a professional clothing even while hustling from the comfort of your home desk. As some studies suggest, it does more than a visual statement of a man who is able to separate his work life from his personal life.

New research from a team of psychological scientists from California State University, Northridge and Columbia University finds that the clothes we wear can also influence the way we think. Across five experiments, study authors Michael Slepian, Simon Ferber, Joshua Gold, and Abraham Rutchick found that dressing to impress enhanced people’s ability to engage in abstract thinking.

“The formality of clothing might not only influence the way others perceive a person, and how people perceive themselves but could influence decision making in important ways through its influence on processing style,” the researchers write.

That said, even when you’re working from home, you need to dress accordingly. But fear not, these three must-have outfits will instantly polish your looks without sacrificing your comfort of working from home.

Balance style and comfort by pairing your tracksuits with a casual t-shirt with a crew neck that fit nicely. The key is to choose the right fabric. Don’t wear trackpants in cotton fabric. Instead, choose the ones in nylon or polyester. It is casual but still proper enough to wear for your regular team meeting.

A turtleneck is one of our must-have outfits when it comes to pulling together a smart casual look. You can wear it with a suit jacket, or a cardigan, it will give that professional look without overdoing it. You could pair it with chino pants and a cardigan.

Working from home means the perfect time to wear your relaxed suits more often. It gives you professional vibes without being too intimidating.
