FELINE FLAIR. If her feline featuring teaser campaign was any indication of where she intends to lead Givenchy, you may pick up her intentions in her most recent runway show
Following the departure of Riccardo Tisci it’s now time to say hello to Givenchy’s first female creative director: Clare Waight Keller. You might have seen the campaign for the collection—Keller’s first for the French house—titled “Have You Seen This Cat?” which was launched prior to the spring/summer 2018 runway show last September. Well, this is actually a nod to Givenchy’s old archives, which Keller uses quite a lot for her latest collection. From Givenchy’s 1961 clover print to the tiger stripes and leopard patterns from the early 1980s, graphic patterns, feline motifs and strong and sharp shoulders were among the major highlights, enveloped in a color palette that is dominated by black and white. This is a clear departure from what Tisci would usually do. Comparisons aside, this collection is definitely a breath of fresh air for Givenchy.
