Just under two weeks since announcing that artistic director Hedi Slimane will split Celine‘s men’s and women’s collections, today they made the decision even clearer by the release of Celine’s summer 2019 men’s collection video.
The first campaign video for Slimane since joining Celine, it’s basically a black and white slideshow with old-school transitional effects between images.
The photos presented are of retro items like tape recorder, keyboard organ, and tube television, interspersed with photos of male models wearing the upcoming collection – leather jackets, pitch dark skinny jeans and oversized sunglasses.
Even if his first show for the maison a couple of months ago were criticized for being everything but revolutionary, Slimane appeared to be sticking to what he does best. And with this video, he’s probably stating firmly that he’s here to stay.
