Celine Menswear Spring/Summer 2020 Show by Hedi Slimane

A devoted admirer of the androgynous rockstar look, Hedi Slimane’s third show for Celine evokes those similar elements for this season –among other signature mainstays.

In between the usual leather jacket, pinstripe suit, skinny jeans and aviator sunnies, Slimane unusually injected more colors and materials on his runway. And we’re liking it.

It’s still the same template of slim fit silhouette comprised of four pieces attire: top, bottom, outer and urban sunglasses. But gone has his bi-annual monochromatic showdown.

The updated palette has denim jackets, animal prints, floral bombers, knitted cardigans, and summer blazers. It even went as far as featuring straw hats and dungarees! The New York garage rock scene has now evolved into a celebration of 1970s rock.

Slimane’s groundbreaking collection with Celine was born from his collaboration with notable artists; David Kramer, Andre Butzer, Carlos Valencia, Darby Milbrath, Zach Bruder. All responsible on chipping in for details of the collection that Slimane took, inspired by his rock and roll heroes of youth.

The show’s VIP front row was filled with these target market as well. Famous musicians such as Miles Kane, Marlon Magnee of La Femme, James Potter of Walt Disco, Will Murray of Fur, and Ben Hozie of Bodega (who contributed to the evening’s soundtrack).
