After his much panned first show for Celine last season, Hedi Slimane returns with a show at Paris Men’s Fashion Week that looked more like a statement that the new Celine is Slimane’s Celine.
Slimane named his show “A London Diary: Polaroids of the British Youth,” taking inspirations from his travels to the British capital of fashion and music. The latter became something that he described as “where the collection began to build itself around.”
Translating these elements into the show, it was supported by two of his musical idols, the Canadian collective Crack Cloud and New York jazz-new wave legend, James Chance. CC provided the show’s soundtrack, while Chance performed live on the runway with his sax.
As for the collection, all the signature Slimane was there: black lean silhouettes, skinny pants, leather jackets and sunglasses. But with various winter outers of tweeds, donegals and cashmere, Slimane certainly gave another dimension – a very British one indeed.
