As a successful actor, Brandon Salim definitely knows a thing or two about the importance of impeccable styling paired with laidback charm. What’s more, he has mastered the art of staying organized and stylish at the same time.

Recently, DAMAN teamed up with Brandon and TUMI to explore the actor’s personal style as well as his favorite travel companion—namely his beloved backpack.

DAMAN: How would you describe your personal style?
Brandon Salim: My style is effortless and focused on quality. I don’t enjoy shopping, so when I do shop, I prioritize sentimental value. For example, I need to know the purpose of my clothes and how they benefit me. Additionally, I prefer understated and subtle looks rather than flashy ones.

I enjoy wearing colorful pieces, often as a statement piece in my outfits. For example, if my clothes are already eye-catching, I prefer to tone down my accessories. However, I also don’t like clothing that stand out too much.

DAMAN: How do you stay on top of your day-to-day activities with your ever-busy schedule?
Brandon Salim: Actually, I’m not productive all the time. I tend to push myself and I believe in consistency. On relaxing days, I still try to stay focused on my goals. Take athletes, for example. They don’t exercise every day, right? They have days when they feel tired and need to rest. However, after they take a bit of time off, they don’t regret the effort they’ve put in. They often say it was worth it!

It’s completely okay to feel tired, take a break and have some time off for contemplation. After a period of rest, getting up early and then enjoying the sunshine while engaging in some morning exercises like jogging can help boost my mood. It definitely reignites my enthusiasm.

DAMAN: Speaking of daily activities, what kind of bag do you usually carry? And how does it fit your lifestyle and fashion style?
Brandon Salim: My TUMI backpack is my daily bag since it’s very durable, has good quality and features excellent fabrics. It can fit all my essentials, which is especially important because I’m the type of person who likes to dump every item into my bag. My TUMI backpack is large, with many compartments that can easily fit various items.

The other reason that I like this bag is that it can stand upright on its own, so I don’t need to worry about it falling over. Also, it’s a luxury bag, but it’s not too flashy either.

DAMAN: What features do you look for when choosing a bag?
Brandon Salim: I like a bag that has the perfect size and capacity to carry everything I need, whether it’s for my daily activities or travelling. It needs to fit all my essentials—including my laptop, camera, headphones, books and passport—without feeling heavy or bulky.

DAMAN: As a frequent traveler, what’s your go-to style when you’re on the go?
Brandon Salim: I’m a laid-back person. I can carry just a jacket, a pair of pants, shoes and a bag. And when it comes to bags, I’ve found that the ones by TUMI perfectly suit my needs, particularly when I’m traveling. I love my backpack for its practicality; it’s easy to open and gives me easy access to my belongings on the go. Not only is it incredibly versatile, but it’s also durable enough to withstand the rigors of everyday use and adventures.

DAMAN: What type of bags do you usually have with you when you’re traveling?
Brandon Salim: I prefer to carry a large suitcase, my favorite backpack and a small carry-on suitcase to avoid overloading my backpack. This way, I have three bags.

DAMAN: What do you think of the TUMI brand as a whole?
Brandon Salim: I believe TUMI is a fantastic brand. It’s timely rather than timeless, which means it’s always on trend, never boring and doesn’t appear old-fashioned. It’s consistently modern and relevant. While timeless items are classic and can be used indefinitely, they often feature the same designs as before.
