Charismatic young actor Adhitya Alkatiri chats with DAMAN about his life’s journey, his inspirations and his ambitious goals for the future
Adhitya Alkatiri is a name that’s quickly becoming synonymous with talent and versatility in the ever-evolving world of television. With a charismatic presence, he has swiftly risen through the ranks to become one of the most recognizable faces in the industry. Known for his roles in numerous successful television movies, Alkatiri has proven himself to be a versatile actor, capable of portraying a wide range of emotions and characters. At just the beginning of what promises to be a stellar career, Alkatiri is undoubtedly one to watch in the entertainment world.
At the beginning of our conversation, Alkatiri recounts the moment that led to his unanticipated foray into the entertainment industry. It was back in 2011 when he was was spotted a talent scout from one of the major production houses. At the time, he had been featured as a model in a local men’s magazine, but it was a job he had taken on without significant expectations. “I was really shy,” Alkatiri admits with a chuckle. “When the talent scouts asked me to audition, I requested to go last. I thought that way, I wouldn’t have to deal with too much attention all at once.”
That audition became a defining moment for him. Despite his nerves, he stepped into the audition room, determined to give it his best shot. Little did he know that this would be the first step toward a career that would soon see him earning a name for himself in showbiz. Years later, he looks back on that first audition with a sense of gratitude and wonder seeing how far he’s come from the timid young man he once was.
He also mentions that sharing the screen with icons of the industry was pivotal in his journey. One of the standout moments in Alkatiri’s budding career was the opportunity to act alongside the legendary Deddy Mizwar, a name that certainly commands respect in the industry. “It was surreal,” Adhitya recalls. “Working with someone as experienced as Deddy Mizwar taught me much about the craft. His dedication and professionalism were inspiring.”
Another special mention goes to Japanese actor Tetsuo Kurata who plays Kōtarō Minami, the main protagonist of both “Kamen Rider Black” and “Kamen Rider Black RX,” two tokusatsu shows from the ’90s that were incredibly popular in Indonesia. Alkatiri had a chance to act alongside him for two episodes in “Satria Garuda BIMA-X,” a TV series about an ordinary young man who becomes a superhero to fight against the sinister forces led by a dark wizard. This experience helped Alkatiri sharpen his skills and deepened his passion for acting as he looks ahead to more ambitious projects.
“I want to play roles that push me out of my comfort zone; characters I’ve never portrayed before,” he shares enthusiastically. With a keen interest in storytelling, Alkatiri dreams of starring in a big movie destined for the silver screen. “I’ve always admired films that leave a lasting impact,” he says. “I want to be part of projects that challenge conventional narratives and allow me to explore complex characters.”
He believes that stepping into diverse personas will hone his skills and provide audiences with a fresh perspective on his talent. As he sets his sights on bigger projects, Alkatiri is ready to make a significant mark in cinema, showing that he’s more than just a television star but an actor with dreams as grand as the silver screen itself.
While he is fully committed to his acting career, he also envisions a quieter life down the road, closer to nature. “Someday, I want to step away from it all and return to nature,” he shares. “I’ve always had a deep connection with the outdoors, and I think there’s something peaceful and grounding about living a simpler life.”
But that’s not all. Alkatiri also envisions settling down and starting a family. “Getting married and building a family is part of my plan,” he says with a smile. “I think it’s important to have balance in life … and I want that when the time comes.” This vision of his future, combining his love for nature and his desire for a family, shows that while Alkatiri is passionately pursuing his acting dreams now, he has a clear idea of the kind of life he wants to lead when the cameras stop rolling.
As our conversation wrapped up, it was evident that Alkatiri’s journey was only just beginning. With his success in television movies, he’s already achieved what many aspiring actors dream of, but this is just the first chapter for him. “I’m grateful for everything so far, but I know there’s so much more I want to do,” he confides. As he forges ahead with his determination, he is poised to make a lasting impact in cinema, proving that the best is yet to come.
