Four of 2023’s most exciting, scene-stealing watches

These marvelous timepieces take horology to new heights with incredible feats of mechanics, sublime aesthetics or, more likely, a combination of both

Rolex

ASIDE FROM the three new variants of the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 36 with the jigsaw puzzle dial, one of the most notable highlights from Rolex this year is the new dial decoration for its Oyster Perpetual range. Quite aptly named “Celebration,” this brand-new motif is available for the Oyster Perpetual 31, Oyster Perpetual 36 and Oyster Perpetual 41 models. Composed of differently sized bubbles fringed with black, the new lacquered dial is dotted with many-colored bubbles that joyfully reunite the five hues introduced to the range in 2020. Most importantly, like all Rolex watches, these Oyster Perpetual models carry the Superlative Chronometer certification, ensuring excellent performance.

Montblanc

IN CELEBRATION of the Minerva manufacture’s 165th anniversary, Montblanc is releasing a brand-new Montblanc Star Legacy Suspended Exo Tourbillon Minerva limited edition of eight pieces. This limitation pays tribute to the goddess Minerva and everything she has symbolized for the Villeret manufacture over the years, celebrating crafts in a completely new way. The dial is made of walnut wood engraved totally by hand with a Roman frieze and includes olive leaves in gold applique. The best part is that this foliage engraving is a recurring pattern found on many historic Minerva watch cases. Lastly, the suspended Exo Tourbillon is surrounded by a gold-engraved laurel tree for the finishing touches.
