Aiming Ever Higher – THE SANTOS-DUMONT watch provided an extra challenge for Cartier’s watchmakers looking to elevate the design through skeletonization. Its slim profile and understated shape necessitated the introduction of a new movement, namely the Calibre 9629 MC. A particularly noteworthy element of the watch is the miniaturized oscillating weight in the shape of a replica of the Demoiselle, an airplane designed by Alberto Santos-Dumont himself back in 1907. The Santos-Dumont Skeleton is available in stainless-steel, rose gold or yellow gold with blue lacquer—the latter being arguably the most refined option.
