MB&amp;F and Bvlgari may come from different corners of the watchmaking world, but their latest collaboration proves that innovation knows no boundaries. The Bvlgari x MB&amp;F Serpenti is a striking fusion of Italian elegance and avant-garde horology, pushing the limits of mechanical artistry in celebration of the Year of the Snake.
Bvlgari has long been synonymous with refined craftsmanship, blending Swiss precision with bold Italian aesthetics in collections like Serpenti, Octo Finissimo, and Bvlgari Bvlgari. MB&amp;F, founded in 2005 by Maximilian Büsser, has reshaped traditional watchmaking by creating kinetic sculptures for the wrist. The brand&#8217;s Horological Machines are inspired by science fiction, automobiles, and the natural world, brought to life through creative collaborations.

This latest timepiece follows the success of the 2021 MB&amp;F x Bvlgari LM FlyingT Allegra, which blended Bvlgari&#8217;s vibrant gemstones with MB&amp;F’s horological architecture. The creative synergy between Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani, Bvlgari’s director of watchmaking creation, and Maximilian Büsser led naturally to the next challenge: reimagining Serpenti through the lens of MB&amp;F’s high-complication watchmaking.

Transforming Serpenti, a symbol of eternal rebirth and metamorphosis, into a Horological Machine required a complete rethink of its design and mechanics. The process was anything but simple. The case of the Bvlgari x MB&amp;F Serpenti is unlike any other, with an intricately contoured form that presents different visual perspectives from every angle. Hundreds of sketches and numerous 3D-printed prototypes were needed to perfect the final design.
Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani notes, “The aim was to have a totally different vision. The snake is a magnificent object that appeals to many collectors. I think we succeeded in giving the Bvlgari serpent a new horizon. It is not just a feminine object linked to the brand’s DNA but, for the first time, a technical object that speaks to the Bvlgari aesthetic and showcases MB&amp;F’s expertise.”
The case itself is a marvel of engineering, featuring five sapphire crystals—including the snake’s eyes—all treated with anti-reflective coating. The movement inside breaks conventional norms, incorporating paper-thin aluminum domes that rotate to indicate hours and minutes, evoking the hypnotic gaze of a serpent. The watchmakers at MB&amp;F painstakingly craft each of the 99 timepieces by hand, ensuring the highest level of artistry and technical precision.
Three limited editions of 33 pieces each are available, housed in grade 5 titanium with blue domes, 18K rose gold with green eyes, and black PVD-coated stainless steel with red accents. The Bvlgari x MB&amp;F Serpenti is a triumph of collaborative watchmaking, bridging two distinct identities into a singular masterpiece.
