More and more brands in the luxury industry has responded to the COVID-19 crisis with initiatives and major donations. The latest brand to join the fight is Burberry.
As part of the global effort to combat the outbreak of COVID-19, the British brand is dedicating its resources to support those impacted by the disease and prevent further infection.
By leveraging its own global supply chain, supporting world-leading research and providing funding to increase food supplies, Burberry will help fulfill the most immediate medical and community needs, while supporting the development of a longer-term solution to the global pandemic.
For one, the brand is working to facilitate the delivery of surgical masks, non-surgical masks and gowns for use by medical staff and patients. Furthermore, Burberry is also funding research into a single-dose vaccine developed by the University of Oxford that is on course to begin human trials, as well as donating to charities including FareShare and The Felix Project, which is dedicated to tackling food poverty across the United Kingdom.
“In challenging times, we must pull together. The whole team at Burberry is very proud to be able to support those who are working tirelessly to combat Covid-19, whether by treating patients, working to find a vaccine solution or helping provide food supplies to those in need at this time. Covid-19 has fundamentally changed our everyday lives, but we hope that the support we provide will go some way towards saving more lives, bringing the virus under control and helping our world recover from this devastating pandemic. Together, we will get through this,” explained Burberry’s CEO, Marco Gobbetti, in closing.
