Vintage tailoring meets “The Godfather” vibes in the Parisian label’s spring/summer 2022 campaign
The seasonal campaigns of French luxury fashion house Yves Saint Laurent have never lacked in star power. Spring/summer 2021, for instance, saw American actor Justice Smith share the spotlight with TikTok star Gauge Burek, and the brand’s fall/winter 2021 campaign featured Romeo Beckham and Lakeith Stanfield.
For its spring/summer 2022 showcase, though, Saint Laurent really kicked it up a notch by tapping the immense old-school charisma of none other than Al Pacino.
The multi-award-winning actor and filmmaker—best known for legendary titles such as “Scarface,” “The Godfather” movies, “The Devil’s Advocate” and recently “House of Gucci”—appears in a series of black and white images captured by photographer David Sims. Unsurprisingly, Pacino was able to beautifully highlight creative director Anthony Vaccarello’s modern take on the classics with vintage-inspired tailoring. Of particular note, Pacino wore a three-piece pinstripe suit and a double-breasted coat.
