A star-studded celebration for the 60th Anniversary of TAG Heuer’s Carrera

Swiss luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer celebrated the 60th anniversary of its iconic Carrera timepiece with a lineup of Hollywood stars and the premiere of its “The Chase for Carrera” campaign

This year marks yet another momentous milestone for TAG Heuer, as the Swiss watchmaker celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Carrera. Not just an iconic TAG Heuer design, the Carrera is arguably one of the most emblematic watch designs, having set the standard for chronographs for decades. Naturally, such a major milestone in its history deserves a suitably epic celebration.

So far, TAG Heuer has released the limited-edition TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph 60th Anniversary earlier this year and has repeatedly teased “The Chase for Carrera,” an exciting action/comedy short film starring none other than brand ambassador Ryan Gosling.

All of these individual celebrations eventually culminated last April in a star-studded event in Central London.

Of the venue, Frédéric Arnault, CEO of TAG Heuer noted: “We chose London for this special evening as the U.K. is such an important part of the brand, one of our biggest markets and a country of watch lovers and racing enthusiasts.”

More importantly, the event was truly star-studded, with a lineup of Hollywood A-listers as well as England celebrities. The latter naturally included Ryan Gosling as well as Vanessa Bayer, the two stars of “The Chase for Carrera.” Joining them were fellow TAG Heuer ambassadors Jacob Elordi and Patrick Dempsey. Two new members of the brand’s ambassador family were also introduced during the festivities. There’s Madelyn Cline, best known for her performances in hit TV series “Outerbanks” and “The Glass Onion,” along with Alexandra Daddario of “White Lotus” and “Mayfair Witches” fame.

And, of course, there were plenty of big names from the U.K. as well, including English radio and television presenter and author Greg James who hosted the event. Also seen were Simone Ashley (who starred in, among others, “Bridgerton” and the upcoming live-action adaptation of “The Little Mermaid”), Milly Alcock (best known as Rhaenyra Targaryen in “House of the Dragon”), singer/songwriter Izzy Bizu (who opened the night with a special performance) and many more.

The true highlight of the evening was, however, the aforementioned short film. Fun, thrilling and jam-packed with historical references amid all the action, “The Chase for Carrera” masterfully showcased the racing spirit that has for decades fueled the daring design of the Carrera as well as TAG Heuer’s overall “don’t crack under pressure” energy.

“When Ryan joined the TAG Heuer family almost two years ago, it was crystal clear that we needed to do something in this direction. He is the quintessential Hollywood driver, and we have a very special connection with him,” Arnault concluded. “We wanted to do a very special film—but we were waiting for the right opportunity. It was no doubt super ambitious, and no one knew how it is going to truly turn out, but with such an amazing cast of super talented people the odds were with us.”

While the party has ended, “The Chase for Carrera” is still making its rounds online and TAG Heuer will continue to present new timepieces in a reimagined Carrera range. So, fans of the brand and haute horlogerie enthusiasts will have plenty to look forward to as 2023 races on…
