Chong first started his career in Hong Kong in 1987. Over the next several years, he moved to China and the Netherlands before finally returning to Hong Kong, as requested by celebrity hair stylist Kim Robinson. Besides working as the artistic hair stylist of Salon Esprit, Chong was also involved in Hong Kong Fashion Week. Later on, he took part in fashion week events in Singapore and Jakarta when he moved to both cities in 2005 and 2009, respectively. Right now, Chong is the director and owner of De Salon by Marc, which is located in Plaza Indonesia, Jakarta. All of this was reason enough for DA MAN to consult him on what hairstyles will be hot for men in 2013. For Chong, “fun” is the keyword for 2013 men’s hairstyles specifically, he see the word fun in dysfunctional. Chong foresees a trend that he calls a “disconnecting hairstyle [where the hair is] long on the top and short on the sides.” Professionals like Chong and his team can easily use their special haircutting techniques to make this style match any shape of face as well as modify it to create more contrast and texture.
