Although he won’t be wearing them while competing (on account of him being, you know, a swimmer)

There are a lot of reasons why we’re dying to see Michael Phelps at the Rio 2016 Olympics, which start on Friday; most of them have to do with the fact that he’s such a talented athlete. There’s also the fact that he has been chosen as Team U.S.A.’s flag bearer during the Opening Ceremony, which means he’s going to wear the much-talked-about Polo Ralph Lauren-designed light-up jacket.
And then, there’s his shoe.
As one of Under Armour‘s brand ambassadors, Phelps has been bestowed with a pair of customized sneakers by the brand. What makes them special is the foot imprint of Phelps’ son, Boomer, which can be found on the insole of the left shoe.
Boomer was born to Phelps and his fiancée Nicole Johnson on May 5, which makes him around 3 months old now. Having Boomer’s foot imprint in his shoe is a touching way to be with his newborn baby every step of the way despite being miles apart.
