EYE SPY. The highly anticipated collaborative collection between Supreme and Comme des Garçons SHIRT is now ready to break into your wardrobe collection
Following a month long string of social media speculations, the Supreme x Comme des Garçons spring/summer 2017 collection is finally here. The collaborative collection was first presented a little over a week ago through the social media and had many fashion-savvy urbanites salivating for the release of the new collection. The complete capsule collection itself consists of a cotton gabardine suit, light weight polyurethane fishtail parka, short sleeve rayon shirt, hooded sweatshirt, short sleeve t-shirt, coin pouch and wallet plus a surprising inclusion of the Nike Air Force 1 Low shoes. Previous collaborations between the two saw shoes from either Vans or Timberland.
Since their first collaboration back in 2012, collaborative collections by the two have been highly sought after. After a three-year hiatus, many fans have long awaited a new collaborative collection by the two fashion houses, which has finally been realized.
The design of the crossover collection’s logo comes from a crumbled iconic 2010 Comme des Garçons advertising by Stephen J. Shanabrook, which is overlay-ed on top of Supreme’s red box logo that has been folded. As for the recurring eyeball motif, Supreme eyed through the archives to come up with the eerie yet unique concept. When combined with Comme des Garçons’ clean-cut designs, the eeriness of the eyeballs are lost to create an eye-catching design.
The surprising addition of the Nike Air Force 1 Low shoes also gets a touch of the eyeball print, but still maintains its original silhouette. The clean white aesthetic of the footwear is broken by the black eyeball graphics on the sides and the black printed branding on the heel tab.
No need to wait any longer as the collection is now available in Supreme’s New York, Los Angeles, London and Paris locations, as well as its online store. Supreme fans in Japan will have to wait until the April 15 before they can get their hands on the collection. The lineup will also be available at Dover Street Market in New York, London, Ginza and Singapore (opening this July). As for the Nike shoes, they won’t hit the stores until May, so you just have to be a little more patient.
