Restaurant Review: Merah Putih

GUESS HUES COMING TO DINNER? The gastronomic concept of Merah Putih (Jl. Petitenget no. 100X, Bali; +62 361 8465 950; merahputihbali.com) mirrors the straightforward name it bears – referring to the color duo of Indonesian national flag, red and white.

Unpretentious local dishes are presented at best here with select food materials and fine composition that altogether up the experience while holidaying on the island of gods.

But if you’re in for a bit of surprise, the collaboration between Indonesian chef Wayan Mustika and Australian chef Kieran Morland explores the unexplored tastes of modern gourmet fare, summed up in the modern section menu.

Under the translucent roof columns of the palatial restaurant, one might as well sip aperitifs at the swish bar preceding a dive into the diverse palates of Indonesian tantalizing grub.
