Traveling spirit
Rain was pouring down along the streets of Singapore on the night of Raoul’s spring-summer 2011 presentation, yet the less-than-friendly weather did not discourage the invited guests nor hamper the festive mood of the event.
Uniquely taking place in a warehouse revamped into a stylish runway theater fit for a proper fashion show, arriving guests were immediately treated to a refreshing blast of champagne, wine and cocktails.
Excellently prepared amuse-bouche, mini-pancakes as well as several other bite-sized canapés tickled the guests’ taste buds as they mingled around the venue to greet familiar faces and business partners talking about the love they share for Raoul’s collection.
Husband-and-wife Creative Director team Douglas and Odile Benjamin, the two major artistic drivers behind the brand, joined in on the celebration as they warmly greeted all the VIP invitees and press corps.
Although curious patrons kept asking about the soon-to-be-revealed collection, the couple smiled on and replied, “Just sit back and enjoy the show. We know you will.” All this took place as they eagerly made glances to the huge neatly closed wooden door by the side of the room, the only thing keeping them from seeing Raoul’s pre-spring-summer 2011 collection.
Finally, the moment descended upon them. As the announcer welcomed the guests, the sturdy door slowly opened up, revealing a brighter, larger and more glamorous hall filled with seats by the red-carpet runway. With wine and champagne still in hand, the guests started filling the seats.
More meeting, mingling and greeting accompanied by rhythmically hip music took place as the final preparations for the show were underway. After everyone was comfortably seated and the crew gave the final ready signal, the models glamorously started their choreographed parade down the catwalk and everyone in attendance was duly awed.
Light, classic combination
