Playfield Sneakers: Sartori’s Last Step in Berluti

KINDRED SOLES. Alessandro Sartori’s departure from Berluti early this year took many by surprise

His relatively short tenure at the superlative French shoemaking company, however, left such a lasting imprint, be it the brand’s ready-to-wear collections or its expanded footwear selections.

For the latter, the Playfield sneakers encapsulate Berluti’s modern, contemporary styling best. The white pair pictured here, in particular, are one of the most covetable kicks of the season, owing to the highly patinated leather (yes, it’s white-colored calfskin), painstaking hand-stitching and metal eyelets for the laces.

The rubber sole is one of a kind, etched with Berluti’s accent Scritto calligraphy.

Made in Italy, these white shoes are arguably the most exquisite farewell token from Sartori.
