Piaget Altiplano Watch is Turning 60 This Year

VALENTIN’S DAY. The endless love affair between Piaget and slim timepieces began in 1957 when Valentin Piaget, grandson of the brand’s founder, introduced the ultra-thin manual-winding movement caliber 9P at the Baselworld watch fair

What was previously thought impossible became reality as the Swiss luxury brand created a movement as thin as 2.3mm for their Altiplano line. The year 2017 marks the Altiplano line’s 60th anniversary and will see the launch of two limited edition timepieces. Both of them feature a 18K white gold case and midnight blue dial. While production of the manual-winding 38mm edition comprises 460 pieces, the self-winding 43mm version is limited to 360 units. Valentin Piaget would have been proud.
