The brand has conspired with the Red Devils
It was a celebration of Britain’s best on Saturday, May 21, 2016. First of all, it was when the final of FA Cup (for non-soccer fans, it’s basically a tournament where big clubs and non-league ones are allowed to compete) was held at the Wembley Stadium. Secondly, one of the world’s most popular English clubs, Manchester United, came out as the winner. Thirdly, everyone’s favorite Prince William was there to present the trophy.
Joining the merriment was Sir Paul Smith and his eponymous label. As a part of his ongoing partnership with Manchester United, the British designer has created and supplied the formalwear worn by the players as they made their way to and from Wembley. The players certainly looked like winners in their navy-colored two-button 100-percent wool suits, white cotton shirts and burgundy silk ties.
Manchester United’s FA Cup win may not stop pundits from criticizing the team; it may not be enough to stop manager Louis van Gaal from being fired. But at least the players know they always have sleek Paul Smith suits on their backs.
