Loewe Release Collection Inspired By Iconic Scottish Architect

Spanish luxury brand Loewe presents a special seasonal collection inspired by the work of renowned architect and designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868-1928).

Loewe is honouring the architect and designer with a full accessories line as well as ready-to-wear for men and women, all exploring his varied artistic production, from architecture and interior design to print techniques and everyday objects.

True to the vast scope of the designer’s work, Loewe’s collection plays with various facets of the Mackintosh universe. Standout items include the Goya bag in different variants bearing the artists famous work, the Botanical and in an unprecedented Grid version evoking the master’s signature lattice designs.

The Grid also appear in two other variants: the Military Messenger and the T Pouch – further a bold statement to already signature silhouettes. Other collections are rose-covered Puzzle bags inspired by a stained-glass window and a version of Loewe’s Hammock bag informed by another of the artist’s famous flower motifs.

The Mackintosh-inspired ready-to-wear range for men consists of knitwear, as well as shirts, jackets and trousers that recreate the spirit of their source in rich cashmeres, silks and mohairs and earthy rust and sand tones. Most strikingly, for the capsule, Loewe transposed Mackintosh’s indelible botanical paintings onto luscious coats and blankets.

As is usual for Loewe, the collection’s accessories showcase advanced leather craft techniques, from marquetry and layered stitching to meticulous see-through effects, all used to reproduce the sinuous lines and graphic elements Mackintosh was known for.

The Loewe Mackintosh collection arrived in stores in November 2018, just in time for the holiday season.
