CHASING THE SUN. Lacoste’s spring/summer 2018 collection embraces its sporty heritage, offering energetic and summery outfits to welcome in the sun
With the arrival of summer just around the corner, Lacoste has prepared a brand new sporty collection that revisits iconic garments of its past and giving them a modern twist. By combining light materials with subtle graphics and natural shades like sand, beige, and khaki, then contrasting them against strong tones of red, blue, and green definitely recalls the brand’s sporty heritage. The modern heritage collection is reminiscent of a style one would expect to find in the wardrobes of René and Simone Lacoste, a style that not only looks good on-court but also maintains a certain level of elegance when worn off-court.
Recognizing the popularity of 90s sportswear in the urban streetwear fashion scene, Lacoste takes cues from its popular garments of the Gen-X era and spruces them up with bright colors and soft technical materials to create a collection that is modern and has strong summery sporting spirit. Dubbed the Allure Solaire, the collection features positive and energetic colors where blues, greens and reds are sharply defined then contrasted with a neutral grey or fresh white. Graphics of the Allure Solaire collection underline the light-hearted style of this collection where plain colors are juxtaposed to give a sharp contrasting effect. The horizontal lines of the polo shirts seem to be hand-drawn while the prints evoke the world of graffiti in a falsely naive style.
