DA MAN: Has your experience in either field helped—or otherwise influenced—your acting?
Kyle Allen: Abso-freaking-lutely. When you are vividly aware of your own physicality, it becomes simple and instinctive to adapt anyone else’s physicality, which is incredibly useful in building a character.
DA MAN: You might get this question a lot, but what would you say to playing a dancer or gymnast in a film?
Kyle Allen: I think that is the best idea anyone has ever had ever in the history of people having ideas. I’m excited already. [Chuckles]
DA MAN: Do you think that having a background in another field, art form or sport can be a decisive advantage for an actor?
Kyle Allen: Hell-flipping-yes it does! Whatever art form you are involved in can be deepened by your understanding of how artists in other mediums work: What inspires them, how they approach their creative processes what tools they use. I wish I could do all of it. That’s not even mentioning what you gain from physical sports and art forms.

DA MAN: What would be your number-one tip for people looking to get into the acting world?
Kyle Allen: There is no “number-one tip.” All tips were completely made up by people who are no different than you. And all people claiming to have a number-one tip are cuttlefish.
DA MAN: On the flip side, what would you say is the number-one thing to avoid for would-be actors?
Kyle Allen: Avoid cuttlefish.
“I don’t think anything in life moves forward without opposition. Entertainment is no different”
DA MAN: This might sound clichéd, but what’s your favorite quote, movie line or saying that perfectly captures your journey so far?
Kyle Allen: Just keep swimming; Hakuna matata; let’s get down to business, to defeat the Huns; manners maketh man; wrong lever, Kronk; my name is Indigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!
