WILD AT HEART. John Varvatos looks to rapper Machine Gun Kelly to front its latest Fall 2017 campaign shoot and video
The story of how rapper Machine Gun Kelly became the closing look for Fall 2017 runway show of John Varvatos is a harrowing tale of late arrivals, unsure custom fittings and a frenzy to get the musician ready for the show. In the end, the show was a success and Machine Gun Kelly’s triumphant strut down the runway ended the show in an uproar of applause as he embraced the designer’s directions to “not hold back any attitude.” If he had any nerves for his first ever runway walk, it didn’t show, as he carried himself with a swagger that not many models are known to have.
When it came to John Varvatos to consider who he would take to be the next face for his campaign, of course it was a no brainer for the designer to go with the man who brought success to his show, Machine Gun Kelly. The aptly named “Wild at Heart” campaign that features Machine gun Kelly is a perfect fit for the rapper, as his style and swagger is able to capture the rebellious-man-of-style image that the Varvatos brand embodies.
Machine Gun Kelly isn’t the first musician to front a John Varvatos campaign, as musicians such as Ringo Starr, KISS, Willie Nelson, Jimmy Page, Green Day, The Roots, Dave Matthews, ZZ Top and Alice Cooper have given their rock and roll persona to the brand. The campaign also features a short fashion video that you can watch below:
